Design, investigation and advisory services
KLOSS is a technical consultancy specialising in building and civil engineering projects. We design load-bearing structures in timber, steel and concrete: new buildings as well as alterations and strengthening of existing ones. Projects range from housing and offices to industrial plants, logistics facilities, dam structures and heritage buildings. For industry we also design secondary containment.
Our investigation work mostly concerns existing buildings. We investigate damage and its causes, assess load-bearing capacity when loads or use change, and carry out technical reviews ahead of property transactions. For older buildings, drawings and calculations are often missing. Part of the work is establishing what was actually built.
We also advise on complex structural problems and carry out independent checking, covering both design information and structures already built. Deliverables are matched to the project stage, from concept-stage information to checked production information.
KLOSS was founded in 2024. Our engineers come from larger consulting and contracting organisations and bring a wide range of project types with them.
Our approach
Every answer we give is grounded either in long experience of similar structures or in calculation and investigation. We set great store by engineering that holds up, and take professional pride in every commission we accept.
A structure has to work for everyone involved, not just the engineer who designed it. The conditions that govern it differ from one project to the next, so the work begins by establishing which requirements and constraints actually apply.
Our experience covers a broad range of work carried out for many different kinds of client. That experience means we recognise the critical issues early, focus on the risks that matter and find solutions that can actually be built. What costs most is rarely the difficult decision; it is the one discovered too late.
Many of the problems in a construction project begin as misunderstandings between the parties. We are therefore careful to explain our choices so that someone who is not a structural engineer can follow the reasoning. Clear communication with everyone involved lets the project team’s combined expertise come fully into play.
Our deliverables follow Swedish practice. Systemhandling is the stage where the structural system is settled and coordinated with the other disciplines. Bygghandling is the final stage, with drawings, reinforcement details and calculations complete enough to build from. Tell us which deliverables you need and we will set ours against them.
